Zomato is to India what DoorDash is to the US but better. Restaurant discovery, reviews, menus with photos, and delivery all in one app. The Indian food ecosystem runs through Zomato.
Delivery fees keep increasing
Base delivery fee plus surge pricing plus packaging charges add up to significant costs. A $5 meal can cost $12 delivered. The fee structure makes frequent ordering expensive.
Not useful outside India
Tried Zomato in the US and it's basically empty. The app is India-centric which makes sense for their business but limits utility for international users.
Zomato Gold is worth it
The membership program with free delivery and restaurant discounts pays for itself in a few orders. If you order delivery regularly, the subscription math works out favorably.
