Uber One makes it affordable
The Uber One membership covers both rides and Eats. Free delivery and 5% back on orders. If you use Uber for anything its a great deal. The combined value is unbeatable.
Surge pricing on food delivery?
During dinner rush the delivery fees skyrocket. A $3 delivery fee becomes $9. They literally surge price food delivery like they do rides. Not cool.
Best tracking of any delivery app
The GPS tracking is incredibly accurate. You can see exactly where your driver is, their route, and the ETA updates in real time. The best tracking experience Ive used.
Food always arrives cold
I live 10 minutes from the restaurant but my food takes 40 minutes and arrives cold because the driver picked up 2 other orders first. The stacking destroys food quality.
Grocery delivery improving
The grocery delivery option has gotten much better. More stores, better selection, and faster delivery times. Not quite Instacart level but getting there.
Promos are constant but small
Get promo notifications daily but theyre usually $3-5 off with a $20 minimum. Better than nothing but not the exciting deals the notifications suggest.
International food options
Love that Uber Eats has authentic international restaurants that other apps dont. Found amazing Ethiopian, Filipino, and Pakistani food through the app. Great variety.
App crashes frequently
The app crashes at least once per ordering session. Usually during checkout or when tracking. Have to force close and reopen. Happens on my iPhone and my wifes Android.
Priority delivery is a scam
Paid extra for priority delivery and it still took 50 minutes. The "priority" option just means they charge you more. Doesnt actually speed anything up.
Scheduled orders work great
Pre-ordering for a specific time works well. Great for planning ahead. Office lunch at exactly 12:00? No problem. This feature is underutilized.
Missing items are too common
At least 1 in 4 orders has something missing. The refund is easy but I ordered the food because I wanted to eat it. Credits dont satisfy hunger.
Better selection than DoorDash locally
In my area, Uber Eats actually has more restaurants than DoorDash. Especially local independent places. Your mileage may vary but check both apps in your area.
Family account sharing rocks
The family account sharing for Uber One is amazing. My whole family gets the benefits under one membership. Everyone can order with free delivery.
Customer service is awful
Tried to resolve a wrong order and the chatbot was useless. Getting to a real person is nearly impossible. They automate away customer service and it shows.
Convenience vs cost battle
Every time I use Uber Eats I feel guilty about the cost. A $12 meal becomes $22. But then I remember Id have to drive, park, wait... and I order anyway.
Restaurant photos are helpful
The food photos from restaurants are high quality and accurate. You generally get what you see in the pictures. Makes choosing easier than text-only menus.
Peak hour is terrible
During lunch and dinner rush, delivery times double and fees go up. The app is best used during off-peak hours. 2pm lunch or 9pm dinner for best experience.
Tip adjustment is fair
Appreciate being able to adjust the tip after delivery. If the driver was amazing, I increase it. If they were terrible, I can reduce it. Fair system for everyone.
Decent but not my first choice
Use it when DoorDash doesnt have the restaurant I want. Its fine but not my preferred platform. The fees are comparable and the experience is similar.
Integration with Uber is seamless
Love that my Uber account, payment methods, and Uber One all carry over. One app for rides and food (or two apps with shared account). Ecosystem play works well.
