Essential urban transport
Living in a city without a car, Uber is how I get around. The reliability is generally good and knowing the price upfront eliminates taxi anxiety.
Surge pricing is highway robbery
A ride that normally costs $15 was $45 during rush hour. 3x surge pricing is absurd. They say its supply and demand but it feels exploitative.
Safety features give peace of mind
The trip sharing, emergency button, driver verification, and ride recording features make me feel safe as a solo female rider. Uber takes safety seriously.
Reserve rides for airports
The reserve feature for airport pickups is clutch. Schedule in advance, driver is there when you land. No surge pricing on reserves either. Use this for airport runs.
Driver cancelled 3 times
Requested a ride and 3 drivers in a row accepted then cancelled. Took 20 minutes to finally get a ride. This happens especially during busy times.
Uber One membership is great value
Between ride discounts, Uber Eats delivery, and member perks, Uber One has paid for itself many times over. If you use any Uber service regularly its a no brainer.
Prices have gone way up
Remember when Uber was the affordable alternative to taxis? Those days are gone. Prices have increased 40-50% over the past few years. Still more convenient but not cheap.
Upfront pricing is great
Knowing exactly what youll pay before getting in the car is still Ubers best feature. No meter anxiety. No surprise charges. The price you see is the price you pay.
Uber Green is a nice option
Being able to specifically request a hybrid or electric vehicle is great for environmentally conscious riders. Usually only costs $1-2 more. Worth it.
Customer service doesnt exist
Try getting help from Uber when something goes wrong. The automated responses are useless and reaching a human is nearly impossible. Terrible support experience.
Group rides save money
UberX Share (the pool option) saves a decent amount on solo rides. A bit slower but worth it for budget-conscious riders. The app handles the routing well.
Driver ratings feel meaningless
Drivers with 4.9 ratings can still give terrible rides. The rating system is inflated because everyone gives 5 stars for average service. Needs recalibration.
International travel essential
Used Uber in 8 different countries. Same app, same experience, same safety. Not needing to negotiate with local taxis in a foreign language is invaluable.
Wait times have increased
Used to get rides in 3-5 minutes. Now its regularly 10-15 minutes in the same area. Fewer drivers on the platform means longer waits for passengers.
Uber Black is worth the splurge
For special occasions or airport rides, Uber Black is a premium experience. Professional drivers, clean luxury cars, and excellent service. Worth the extra cost.
Scheduled rides work reliably
For early morning airport runs, scheduling a ride the night before gives peace of mind. The driver always shows up on time. Reliable for time-critical trips.
Uber has lost its magic
What started as a revolutionary service has become just another overpriced car service. The innovation has slowed and the experience has standardized. Still useful but not exciting.
Package delivery is handy
Uber Connect for sending packages across town is surprisingly useful. Cheaper than traditional couriers for same-day delivery. Great for sending forgotten items to friends.
The trip receipt details are thorough
After every ride, the detailed receipt with route map, trip time, and price breakdown is nicely done. Good for expense reports and personal records.
Necessary but not beloved
Uber is a necessary part of modern urban life. I use it regularly but I dont love it. The prices, the surge, the occasional bad driver... its complicated.
