Best show tracker available
Tracking 30+ TV shows across 6 streaming services would be impossible without TV Time. Checking off episodes and getting new episode alerts keeps me organized.
Never miss a new episode
The push notifications for new episodes of shows Im following are timely and accurate. No more googling "when does X come back?" TV Time tells me.
Ads are too frequent
The free version has too many ads. Full-screen ads between show pages and banner ads throughout. Premium removes them but adds monthly cost.
Emoji reactions are fun
Reacting to episodes with emojis and seeing how the community reacted adds a social element to watching alone. Fun to see if others cried at the same scenes.
Watch stats are eye-opening
Seeing total hours spent watching TV is both impressive and slightly horrifying. The lifetime stats put your viewing habits in perspective. 2000 hours of TV, really?
Sync issues across devices
Sometimes episode check-offs dont sync between phone and tablet. Mark something as watched on one device and it doesnt reflect on the other. Frustrating.
Calendar view is essential
The calendar showing upcoming episodes across all my shows is the single most useful feature. At a glance I know whats airing this week.
Community discussions add depth
The episode-specific discussions let me process episodes with other fans. Better than Twitter for spoiler-free discussions within the episode context.
Movie tracking is an afterthought
The app clearly prioritizes TV shows. Movie tracking exists but is basic compared to Letterboxd. Use TV Time for shows and Letterboxd for movies.
Binge tracking is satisfying
Checking off an entire season of episodes during a binge session is oddly satisfying. The progress bar filling up provides completion satisfaction.
Recommendations from viewing habits
The show recommendations based on what I watch are surprisingly good. Discovered several great shows I never would have found through the suggestion engine.
Premium features feel basic
The premium subscription charges for features that should be free - like removing ads and filtering. The free tier feels artificially limited.
Following friends watching habits
Seeing what friends are watching and their reactions helps with show discovery. If 3 friends are watching something, its probably worth checking out.
Backlog management
The watchlist and backlog management helps prioritize what to watch next. With so much content available, having an organized backlog is necessary.
App needs performance work
The app is slower than it should be and occasionally crashes. Basic operations like searching and loading show pages could be faster.
Year in review is motivating
The year-end summary showing total shows, episodes, and hours watched is fun to review. Comparing with friends adds a social competitive element.
Spoiler-free design
The app is designed to avoid spoilers for episodes you havent watched yet. Discussions are gated by episode. Thoughtful design for the binge-watching era.
Competing with Trakt
TV Time competes with Trakt for show tracking. TV Time has better design, Trakt has better integrations. Choose based on what matters more to you.
Show progress at a glance
Seeing progress bars for all my shows tells me what Im behind on. The visual progress tracking is simple and effective for managing multiple shows.
Essential for TV enthusiasts
If you watch more than 5 shows, TV Time becomes essential for tracking whats happening when. The organization it provides is worth the occasional ads.
