The best to-do app, hands down
Been using Todoist for 4 years now. Natural language input ("every monday at 9am") is brilliant. The Karma system keeps me motivated. This app has genuinely made me more productive.
Simple and reliable
Does exactly what a task manager should do without overcomplicating things. I can add tasks in seconds and organize them into projects easily. Wish the free version included reminders though - that feels like a basic feature.
Perfect GTD implementation
I follow the Getting Things Done methodology and Todoist is perfect for it. Projects, labels, filters, and the inbox all map perfectly to GTD concepts. The quick-add feature from any screen is a lifesaver.
Good but premium is overpriced
The app itself is great but $5/month for features like reminders and comments? That's stuff that should be free. The free tier feels intentionally crippled to push upgrades.
Syncs perfectly across all devices
I use Todoist on my iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and work PC. Everything syncs instantly and perfectly every single time. This is what every app should aspire to for cross-platform support.
Great task manager, not a project manager
For personal tasks and simple project tracking it's excellent. But don't try to use it as a full project management tool for a team - it's not designed for that. Know what it is and it's perfect.
Natural language input is magic
Type 'Buy groceries tomorrow at 5pm p1 #Personal' and it creates a high-priority task in your Personal project due tomorrow at 5pm. It's like the app reads your mind. Best feature of any task app.
Solid after years of updates
I've been using this since 2019 and it keeps getting better. The board view addition was welcome, filters are powerful, and integrations with other apps (Slack, Gmail) work well.
Missing features competitors have
No time tracking, no built-in Pomodoro, limited note-taking within tasks. For the price of premium, I expect more features. TickTick offers all of this at a similar price point.
Keeps me sane as a freelancer
Managing multiple client projects would be impossible without Todoist. Each client gets a project, tasks have due dates and priorities. The daily view shows me exactly what needs attention. Love it.
Clean design, wish for more customization
The UI is beautiful and minimal. But I wish I could customize more - different colors for projects, custom icons, widgets that show more info. It feels a bit too rigid sometimes.
Todoist + Google Calendar = perfection
The two-way sync with Google Calendar changed my workflow completely. Tasks show up as calendar events and I can see my entire day in one view. This integration alone is worth the premium subscription.
Great app with minor annoyances
Sub-tasks are useful but the nesting limit of 5 levels can be restrictive for complex projects. Also, sorting options within projects could be more flexible. Overall though, it's my daily driver.
Notifications are unreliable on Android
Tasks sometimes don't trigger notifications on my Pixel. I've missed deadlines because of this. Seems to be a battery optimization issue but other apps handle it fine. Needs fixing.
Simple enough for daily use
I've tried Notion, ClickUp, and Asana. They're all too complex for personal task management. Todoist hits the sweet spot - powerful enough for real productivity, simple enough that I actually use it every day.
Filters are surprisingly powerful
Once you learn the filter syntax, you can create some really useful custom views. "Overdue & priority 1" or "assigned to me & due before next week" - it's like a query language for your tasks.
Best recurring task support anywhere
Every other Friday, first Monday of month, every 3 days - Todoist handles all recurring patterns flawlessly. As someone with lots of recurring responsibilities, this feature alone keeps me subscribed.
Collaboration features are decent
Sharing projects and assigning tasks works well for small teams. It's not a full team management tool but for my family's shared household tasks, it's perfect.
Rock solid reliability
In three years of daily use, I've never lost a task or experienced a sync issue. That kind of reliability matters when your entire workflow depends on an app. Todoist delivers.
Wish it had better reporting
For a productivity app, there's surprisingly little insight into your productivity patterns. How many tasks am I completing? What's my busiest day? The existing stats are minimal. Would love dashboards.
