Replaced my office scanner
The scan quality from my iPhone camera through Scanner Pro rivals my $300 desktop scanner. Edge detection, perspective correction, and color enhancement are all automatic and accurate.
OCR is impressively accurate
Scanned a contract and the OCR text extraction was 99% accurate, including small print. Searchable PDFs from phone photos. The text recognition technology is outstanding.
Edge detection saves so much time
Point your camera at a document and it automatically detects the edges, crops, and straightens. No manual adjustment needed 95% of the time. Smart and fast.
Cloud sync keeps everything accessible
Scanned docs automatically sync to iCloud, Dropbox, and Google Drive. Scan on my phone, access on my Mac immediately. The cloud integration is seamless for Apple users.
Subscription for basic features is annoying
OCR and some cloud features require the subscription. A scanner app locking OCR behind a paywall feels greedy. The free version is limited to basic scanning.
Workflows automate my filing
Setting up workflows that automatically name, tag, and upload scans to specific folders saves me repetitive work. Scan receipt, it goes to the receipts folder. Smart automation.
Multi-page scanning is smooth
Scanning a 20-page document with continuous capture mode is fast and easy. The app guides you through each page and compiles everything into one clean PDF. Efficient.
Annotation tools are useful
Highlighting, signing, and adding text to scanned documents without leaving the app. For quick markup before sharing, the built-in tools cover the basics well.
QR code scanning is a bonus
Scanner Pro also reads QR codes and barcodes. Having document scanning and QR reading in one app means one less app on my phone. Nice secondary feature.
Best scanner app on iOS period
Been using Scanner Pro for 4 years across two iPhones. It has never failed to produce a clean, readable scan. Reliability over years of use is the real test and it passes.
Wish it was on Android too
Love the app but my work phone is Android. Having to use a different scanner app on each platform is inconvenient. Cross-platform would make it even better.
Folder organization is clean
Organizing scans into folders with tags makes finding documents easy. The folder structure is simple and search works well. Good document management for a scanner app.
Fax feature is surprisingly useful
Sending faxes directly from scanned documents. In 2024 some institutions still require faxes. Having it built into the scanner app is convenient for those rare occasions.
Scanning books chapter by chapter
Used Scanner Pro to digitize chapters from library books. The page detection handles book curves well and the output is readable. Better than I expected for book scanning.
Share as PDF or image
Export as PDF, JPEG, or PNG with quality options. Sharing scans via email, messaging, or AirDrop is one tap. The export flexibility covers all my needs.
Password protect sensitive scans
Locking individual scans or folders with a password or biometrics. For medical records, tax documents, and IDs, the security option is important.
Color, grayscale, and B&W modes
Choosing between color, grayscale, and black & white scanning modes depending on the document type. Each mode is optimized for its use case. Simple but effective.
App size is surprisingly large
Scanner Pro takes up over 200MB which feels like a lot for a scanner. The OCR models probably account for the size but it's worth noting if storage is tight.
Readdle quality as expected
Readdle consistently makes the best productivity apps on iOS. Scanner Pro maintains their reputation for quality. If you use Documents or Spark, you know what to expect.
Worth the subscription for heavy scanners
If you scan documents regularly for work, the subscription is justified by time saved. For occasional scanning, the built-in iOS scanner might be enough. Know your usage.
