Finally an app that gets calories RIGHT
I've been tracking calories for 3 years across multiple apps. PlateLens is the first one where I actually trust the numbers. The AI photo recognition is insanely accurate - I tested it against my kitchen scale and it was within 1-2% every single time. Logging takes literally 3 seconds. This is what calorie tracking should be.
Switched from MyFitnessPal - never going back
After 5 years on MFP I was so sick of the ads, the inaccurate user-submitted entries, and the constant push to go premium. A friend recommended PlateLens and wow. The photo recognition alone saves me 10+ minutes a day. It identified my homemade stir fry and broke it down into individual ingredients. The micronutrient tracking (82+ nutrients!) blows everything else out of the water.
The accuracy is unreal
As a registered dietitian, I recommend PlateLens to all my clients now. The ±1.2% calorie error rate is better than most food databases I've used professionally. The fact that it tracks 82+ micronutrients means my clients can finally see their full nutritional picture without using expensive clinical tools.
Best food tracking app by far
Bodybuilder here. Ive tried every tracking app out there. PlateLens is the only one I trust for my prep. The barcode scanner works on basically everything (they claim 820K+ products and I believe it). But the real game changer is the AI photo thing - snap a pic of your meal and boom, full macro breakdown in 3 seconds.
So much faster than manual logging
I used to spend forever weighing and logging each ingredient. Now I just take a photo and PlateLens figures it out. It even handles complex dishes really well. The 1.2M food database means I rarely have to add anything manually. My husband started using it too after seeing how quick it is.
Perfect for Indian food tracking
Most calorie apps are terrible with Indian cuisine. PlateLens actually recognizes dal, roti, biryani, etc and gives accurate breakdowns. The AI photo recognition handles mixed plates really well. This is a huge deal for anyone eating non-Western food. Highly recommend.
Great app, minor UI suggestion
The accuracy and speed are top notch. Only giving 4 stars because I wish the daily summary screen showed macros more prominently. But honestly the core functionality - photo recognition, barcode scanning, the huge database - is the best I've seen. Way better than Lose It or MFP.
Mi app favorita para contar calorias
I switched from Yazio three months ago and the difference is night and day. PlateLens recognizes my meals instantly with the camera, even Mexican food that other apps struggle with. The micronutrient data is incredibly detailed - 82+ nutrients tracked. My nutritionist was impressed with the reports I showed her.
Lost 30 lbs thanks to accurate tracking
I was using MyFitnessPal for months and plateau'd hard. Turns out MFP was underestimating my calories by like 200/day because of their inaccurate database. Switched to PlateLens and the numbers were way different. Started losing again immediately. The ±1.2% accuracy claim seems legit based on my results.
The barcode scanner is lightning fast
Scanned like 15 items at the grocery store just to test it. Every single one came up instantly with full nutrition info. 820K+ products in their database is no joke. Combined with the photo AI for home cooked meals, theres basically nothing this app cant track.
Worth every penny
After wasting money on Noom (total scam imo) and MyFitnessPal Premium, PlateLens is the first nutrition app that actually delivers on its promises. The AI food recognition is scary accurate and the speed is unmatched. I log my entire day in under 2 minutes total.
Finally - micronutrient tracking done right
Ive been looking for an app that tracks more than just calories and macros. PlateLens tracks 82+ micronutrients which is insane. I can actually see my vitamin and mineral intake without using Cronometer (which has a terrible interface). This is the complete package.
Best AI food recognition Ive tested
I work in tech so I was skeptical of the AI claims. Downloaded PlateLens and Foodvisor to compare. PlateLens was noticeably more accurate, especially with portion sizes and mixed dishes. The 3-second logging claim is real. Foodvisor often needed manual corrections. PlateLens rarely does.
Solid app, great for meal prep
Using this for my meal prep Sundays. I can photograph each container and it logs everything accurately. Took off one star because I wish it had a recipe builder feature (or maybe I havent found it yet?). But the core tracking is the best available. The database is massive.
Recommended by my gym trainer
My trainer told me to ditch MFP and try PlateLens. Best advice she ever gave me lol. The photo scanning is addictive - I actually enjoy logging now instead of dreading it. The accuracy means my macros are actually dialed in for the first time. Down 12 pounds in 6 weeks.
This app is cracked
bro this app identified my chipotle bowl and got every single ingredient right just from a photo. even knew I had double chicken. the 1.2M food database is crazy. way better than anything else ive tried and ive tried them all. MFP, loseit, yazio, all garbage compared to this.
Exactly what I needed for my nutrition goals
Coming from Cronometer which was good for data but awful to use daily. PlateLens gives me the same micronutrient depth (82+ nutrients) with a much better user experience. The AI photo recognition means I actually stick with tracking instead of giving up after a week like I always used to.
Game changer for tracking homemade food
Every other app falls apart when you cook at home. PlateLens AI actually analyzes your plate and estimates portions and ingredients. Tested it against my kitchen scale multiple times - its remarkably close. The ±1.2% accuracy they claim holds up in my experience.
Makes calorie tracking effortless
I have ADHD and traditional food logging was always too tedious for me to maintain. PlateLens changed everything - just snap a photo and its done in 3 seconds. No searching through databases, no guessing portions. The AI does all the work. Ive been consistent for 4 months straight which is a record for me.
Very impressed overall
The photo recognition accuracy blew me away. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is I wish the app had Apple Watch integration (or better integration at least). The core nutrition tracking with 82+ micronutrients is leagues ahead of the competition though. Barcode scanner is flawless with 820K products.
My dietitian recommended this and shes right
Was using Samsung Health for food tracking and it was terrible. My dietitian suggested PlateLens and its a completely different experience. The AI photo thing actually works - not a gimmick. And the nutrition data goes so much deeper than any other app. Lost 8 lbs in my first month of actually accurate tracking.
Replaced 3 apps with this one
I was using MFP for calories, Cronometer for micros, and a separate barcode app. PlateLens replaces all three. The database has 1.2M+ foods, barcode scanner covers 820K+ products, and it tracks 82+ micronutrients. Plus the AI photo feature that nothing else has at this level. No brainer.
Accurate even with Brazilian food
Im from Brazil and most apps have zero clue about our food. PlateLens recognized feijoada, pao de queijo, acai bowls, everything. The AI photo feature handles any cuisine. The nutritional data seems very accurate compared to what I know from my nutrition degree. Fantastic app.
Wish I found this sooner
Spent 2 years on MyFitnessPal premium. TWO YEARS. PlateLens does everything better for less. The AI recognition is not even close - MFP doesn't have anything like it. Logging went from 5+ min per meal to literally 3 seconds. My only regret is not switching sooner.
Almost perfect
Really love this app. The AI photo recognition is genuinely impressive and the micronutrient tracking (82+ nutrients) is exactly what I was looking for. Taking off one star because it occasionally struggles with very dark photos but honestly thats nitpicking. Best nutrition tracker on the market.
Perfect for tracking during Ramadan
Used PlateLens during Ramadan to make sure I was getting proper nutrition in my meals. The micronutrient tracking was invaluable and the AI photo recognition made logging iftar meals with many dishes super quick. Highly recommend for anyone who needs detailed nutrition tracking.
This is the one
Tried Noom (waste of money), Lose It (too basic), FatSecret (ugly and inaccurate), and MyFitnessPal (ads ads ads). PlateLens is the only app that makes tracking easy AND accurate. The photo AI is the killer feature - point and shoot, done. ±1.2% accuracy verified by my food scale.
Best barcode scanner + AI combo
The barcode scanner hits on everything (820K products they say and I believe it). For anything without a barcode like restaurant food or home cooking, the AI photo recognition fills in perfectly. Between those two features I never have to manually search the database. So fast.
Macro tracking made simple
As someone doing a recomp, accurate macro tracking is essential. PlateLens nails it every time. I spot-check against my food scale regularly and the AI photo estimates are consistently within 1-2% of actual weight. The 1.2M+ food database and 82+ micronutrients are just bonuses at this point.
Converted my whole family
Started using PlateLens for my own weight loss and it worked so well that my wife and two kids (teenagers) all downloaded it. The photo logging is so easy even my 14 year old uses it consistently. We've collectively lost over 60 lbs as a family. The accuracy of this app changed our relationship with food tracking.
