Still the king of streaming
Despite all the competition, Netflix still has the best variety. The originals are consistently good and the algorithm knows me better than I know myself.
Too many price increases
Weve gone from $8 to $15.49 in a few years. Each increase pushes me closer to canceling. The value proposition is shrinking as prices grow.
Download feature saves me
Downloading shows for flights and commutes is essential. The offline viewing quality is great and managing downloads is easy. Underrated feature.
Password sharing killed it for my family
The crackdown on password sharing means my elderly parents who I was sharing with now need their own subscription. Family plan pricing doesnt help since they live separately.
Originals are worth the price
Stranger Things, Wednesday, Squid Game, The Crown - Netflix originals are appointment viewing. No other streamer produces hits this consistently.
Content disappears without warning
Built up a watchlist and half the movies disappeared the next month. Netflix needs to warn you before content leaves. Lost count of things I meant to watch.
UI is the smoothest
The Netflix app is the smoothest streaming experience. Fast loading, intuitive navigation, and the preview feature helps me decide what to watch. Best designed streaming app.
Ad tier is tolerable
The cheaper ad tier has fewer ads than cable TV and the quality is the same. If youre price sensitive, the ad tier is a reasonable compromise.
International content is amazing
Korean dramas, Spanish thrillers, French comedies - Netflix has made international content mainstream. Dark, Money Heist, Squid Game opened my world.
Kids profiles work well
The kids profiles give me peace of mind that my children arent accidentally watching adult content. Good parental controls without being overly restrictive.
Too many mediocre originals
For every great original theres 10 mediocre ones. Netflix quantity over quality approach means sifting through a lot of bad to find the good.
Games addition is surprisingly good
The included mobile games are a nice bonus. Some are actually really well made. Extra value that comes with the subscription at no added cost.
Documentary selection is unmatched
The documentary library on Netflix is incredible. True crime, nature, social issues, science - whatever topic interests you, theres a quality doc.
Autoplay is still annoying
The autoplay previews and next episode feature are pushy. Yes I can turn them off but the defaults should respect my attention more.
Profile transfer was smooth
When the password sharing crackdown happened, the profile transfer feature preserved my watch history and preferences. At least they made the transition easy.
Spatial audio is immersive
Spatial Audio support with AirPods makes watching on a phone feel cinematic. The audio quality and immersion is impressive for mobile viewing.
Canceling shows too quickly
Netflix cancels shows after 1-2 seasons before they find an audience. Invested in stories that never get conclusions. Discourages starting new shows.
Multi-device experience is great
Start on the TV, continue on phone, finish on tablet. The sync across devices is seamless. The cross-platform experience is the best in streaming.
Recommendation algorithm knows me
The percentage match predictions are scary accurate. When Netflix says 95% match, I know Ill like it. The algorithm learns and improves over time.
Pioneer losing its edge
Netflix pioneered streaming but the competition has caught up. Disney+, HBO Max, and Apple TV+ all produce excellent content now. Netflix needs to stay innovative.
