My entire library in my pocket
Having hundreds of books accessible on my phone wherever I go is liberating. The reading experience is excellent and syncs perfectly with my Kindle device.
Kindle Unlimited is a book lovers dream
For $9.99/month I read 5-10 books. The selection has improved dramatically with more quality titles. Best value in reading if you consume books quickly.
Cant buy books on iOS
Apple wont let Amazon sell books in-app. Having to go to a browser to buy then return to the app is a terrible user experience. Blame Apple but it hurts.
Whispersync is magical
Reading on my Kindle at home, switching to the phone app on the train, and it knows exactly where I left off. Cross-device sync is flawless.
Dark mode for night reading
The dark mode and adjustable warmth settings make late-night reading comfortable. No more blinding white pages at midnight. Thoughtful reading features.
DRM is a concern
All your books are locked to Amazons ecosystem. If you ever want to leave, your library doesnt come with you. The DRM lock-in is troubling.
X-Ray for books is wonderful
The X-Ray feature showing character descriptions and plot points as you read is perfect for complex novels. Never forget who a character is again.
Highlighting and notes export
Highlighting passages and accessing all highlights later for reference is great for non-fiction reading. The annotation tools support active reading.
Font customization matters
Being able to change font, size, margins, and line spacing means everyone can have their optimal reading experience. Accessibility done right.
Replaced physical books entirely
I was a physical book purist but Kindle has converted me. The convenience, portability, and features like built-in dictionary outweigh holding paper.
Ebook prices are too high
Ebooks should be cheaper than physical books but many are the same price or more. No printing, shipping, or storage costs but same price? Doesnt make sense.
Manga and comics work well
Reading manga and graphic novels on the Kindle app works surprisingly well. The guided view for comics panels makes phone reading comfortable.
Library book integration
Borrowing library ebooks through Libby and reading them in the Kindle app is seamless. Free books with the Kindle reading experience. Best of both worlds.
Word Wise helps language learners
The Word Wise feature showing definitions of difficult words inline is perfect for reading in a second language or tackling challenging vocabulary.
Reading stats motivate me
Seeing reading streaks, time per session, and pages read motivates me to read more. The gamification of reading habits works on me.
Ads in Kindle books
Some Kindle editions include front-matter ads for other books. Paid for the book and still get ads. Amazon being Amazon.
Collections organize my library
With hundreds of books, the collections feature keeps everything organized. Sort by genre, read status, or custom categories. Essential for large libraries.
Best reading app available
Despite the iOS purchase limitation, the Kindle app remains the best ebook reading experience. The features, library, and sync are unmatched by competitors.
Goodreads integration is basic
The Goodreads integration could be much deeper. Just basic tracking when it could sync progress, share highlights, and enhance the social reading experience.
Built-in dictionary saves time
Tap any word for an instant definition and Wikipedia entry. No more leaving the book to look things up. Small feature that makes a huge difference.
