The best calendar app on Apple
Fantastical's natural language input is unmatched. Type "lunch with Sarah at Cafe Roma Tuesday at noon" and everything populates correctly. The design is gorgeous and it just works.
Too expensive for a calendar
$57/year for a calendar app? That's hard to justify when Apple Calendar is free and Google Calendar works great. The features are nice but the pricing is premium for what it is.
Calendar sets are brilliant
Switching between "Work" and "Personal" calendar sets with one tap changes everything visible. No more seeing work meetings on weekends. This feature alone is worth the upgrade from Apple Calendar.
Scheduling feature saves so much time
The built-in scheduling links (like Calendly) mean I don't need a separate service. Share a link, people pick a time, it's on my calendar. Saves me $10/month on Calendly.
Weather in calendar is actually useful
Seeing the weather forecast directly on calendar days helps me plan outdoor activities and decide what to wear for events. Small feature, surprisingly practical.
Was better as a one-time purchase
Fantastical used to be a one-time purchase app. Moving to subscription angered a lot of loyal customers. The app is good but the business model change left a bad taste.
Widgets are the best on iOS
Fantastical's widgets show more useful information at a glance than any other calendar widget. The small widget shows today's events perfectly, the large one shows the week beautifully.
Multiple calendar service support
Fantastical connects to Google, Exchange, iCloud, and other calendar services simultaneously. Having all my calendars in one beautiful interface is the main reason I subscribe.
Task integration is a nice bonus
The integrated task list means I can see both events and to-dos in one view. Uses Reminders as the backend so my Apple Reminders tasks show up automatically.
Mac app could be better
The iOS version is excellent but the Mac version feels like it hasn't received as much attention. Some interactions feel clunky and the window management could be improved.
Conference call detection is smart
Fantastical detects Zoom/Teams/Meet links in calendar events and provides a one-tap join button. During meeting-heavy days, this saves me from digging through event details.
DayTicker view is unique
The DayTicker scrollable day strip at the top is a Fantastical original and it's brilliant. Quick scrolling through days while seeing the schedule below. No other calendar app has this.
Worth the subscription for power users
If you manage a busy calendar with multiple services, Fantastical is worth every penny. The time saved by natural language input and the clarity of the interface adds up daily.
Free version is very limited
The free tier is basically a demo. No event creation, no tasks, no calendar sets. It feels like it exists only to upsell you. At least let people create events for free.
Travel time estimates are handy
Getting automatic travel time alerts before events based on current location and traffic is genuinely useful. Helps me leave on time for appointments across town.
Best Apple Watch calendar
The Fantastical Apple Watch complication and app show calendar info better than Apple's own Calendar app on the Watch. Quick glance at your wrist shows everything coming up.
Interesting events feature
Fantastical can show local events, holidays, and sports schedules as overlay calendars. Seeing local events I might want to attend alongside my schedule is a neat discovery feature.
Sharing availability is easy
The ability to share your available times as a link without exposing your actual calendar events is perfect for scheduling meetings without back-and-forth emails.
Beautiful but subscription fatigue
Fantastical is a beautiful, well-made app. But in a world where I'm already paying for 15 subscriptions, adding another $57/year for a calendar app is a hard sell. Apple Calendar does 80% of this for free.
Natural language in any language
I switch between English and Spanish regularly. Fantastical's natural language input works in both languages seamlessly. Type "reuniΓ³n maΓ±ana a las 3" and it works. Multilingual support is excellent.
