Most restaurants available
DoorDash has way more restaurant options than Uber Eats or GrubHub in my area. The selection is unmatched. App is smooth and order tracking is accurate.
Fees make it expensive
A $15 meal becomes $25+ with delivery fee, service fee, and tip. DoorDash would be amazing without the fees. DashPass helps but doesnt eliminate them entirely.
Cold food is the norm
My food arrives cold or lukewarm about 60% of the time. Drivers stack multiple deliveries so my food sits in a car for 30+ minutes. Quality suffers tremendously.
DashPass is a must have
If you order even once a week, DashPass pays for itself immediately. Free delivery and reduced service fees on most orders. Made food delivery actually affordable.
Missing items happen too often
At least once a month an item is missing from my order. Usually a drink or side. The refund process is easy but I wanted the food not the money back.
Grocery delivery is getting good
DoorDash for groceries is actually competitive now. Delivery from local stores in 30 minutes is impressive. Selection is limited but growing. Good alternative to Instacart.
Tipping before delivery is weird
Why do I tip before I know if the service is good? If I tip low the order sits forever. If I tip high and service is bad I wasted money. Broken system.
Group ordering is clutch
The group ordering feature where everyone picks what they want and splits the bill is perfect for office lunches. No more collecting money from everyone.
Driver ate my food
Order arrived with the seal broken and half the fries missing. Pretty sure the driver helped themselves. This has happened twice. DoorDash refunded but still gross.
Late night savior
When its midnight and you need food, DoorDash is there. The late night selection of restaurants is better than other apps. My go-to for post-work late dinners.
Promotions are misleading
Those "40% off" promotions always have a max discount of like $8 and minimum order of $30. The marketing is misleading. Read the fine print on every offer.
Pickup option saves money
If the restaurant is nearby, the pickup option saves all the delivery fees. Order ahead, walk over, and skip the line. Best of both worlds - app convenience without fees.
Customer service is decent
When things go wrong (which is often), the customer service chat resolves issues quickly. Credits are given generously. They know their service has issues and compensate.
Live tracking is addictive
Watching the little car icon drive to my house is oddly satisfying. The ETA is usually accurate within 5 minutes. The tracking feature is well executed.
Menu prices are inflated
Noticed that menu prices on DoorDash are 20-30% higher than the actual restaurant menu. On top of fees and tip. The convenience tax is absurd.
Alcohol delivery is convenient
Being able to get wine and beer delivered alongside my dinner is great. The age verification process is quick. Good selection from local liquor stores.
Hit or miss drivers
Some drivers are amazing - fast, friendly, and careful with food. Others are terrible - slow, rude, and my food arrives looking like it survived an earthquake. No consistency.
Gift cards through the app
Sending DoorDash gift cards through the app is a great gift option. Everyone appreciates free food delivery. The gifting experience is smooth and easy.
Necessary evil
Its overpriced and the quality isnt always great, but when youre tired and dont want to cook, DoorDash is there. Its a convenience I wish I didnt rely on so much.
Best app for food delivery overall
Tried all the major food delivery apps and DoorDash consistently has the most options, best tracking, and most reliable delivery. Not perfect but the best of the bunch.
