Best for Gen Z fashion
If you want unique vintage and streetwear finds, Depop is the place. The aesthetic is very curated and Instagram-like. Found amazing Y2K pieces here.
Overpriced thrift store finds
Many sellers buy from Goodwill for $3 and list for $30. The markup is insane. Its reselling thrift finds as "vintage fashion." Smart hustle but annoying as a buyer.
Made it my side hustle
Been selling on Depop for a year and average $1000/month. The community is supportive and the app makes selling feel creative rather than tedious. Love the aesthetic.
Got scammed on sneakers
Bought "authentic" Jordans that were clearly fake. Seller had good reviews too. Depop resolved it but it took 3 weeks and a lot of effort. Need better authentication.
Perfect for sustainable fashion
Love that Im buying secondhand instead of fast fashion. Depop makes thrifting feel cool and accessible. The app design is beautiful and matches the creative community.
Search is terrible
Searching for specific items is frustrating. Results are often irrelevant and theres no good way to filter by size, brand, or condition reliably. Discovery is hit or miss.
Streetwear haven
For streetwear, Supreme, Stussy, and similar brands, Depop has the best selection and prices. The community knows their stuff and listings are detailed. Great experience.
Fees add up quickly
Between Depop fees and PayPal fees, sellers lose a significant chunk. For lower-priced items its barely worth the effort. Wish the fee structure was more competitive.
Found my style here
Depop helped me develop my personal style. Browsing unique items from creative sellers is inspiring. Built an entire wardrobe of one-of-a-kind pieces.
Not for older users
The whole vibe is very young. As someone in their 30s I feel out of place. The items skew very trendy/youth-oriented. Poshmark is better for more classic styles.
Great seller tools
The in-app photo editing, boosting feature, and analytics help sellers succeed. Depop invests in seller tools which shows. The creative community thrives because of this.
Shipping options are limited
Wish there were more flexible shipping options. The current setup is more expensive than it needs to be. For small items the shipping cost can exceed the item cost.
Sustainability meets style
Depop proves that secondhand doesnt mean boring. The items are curated, styled beautifully in photos, and the whole experience feels premium despite being thrift.
Needs better buyer protection
Had issues with items not matching descriptions and the resolution process is clunky. Depop needs to invest more in buyer protection and dispute resolution.
Vintage jewelry paradise
Found the most beautiful vintage jewelry pieces on Depop. Unique items you cant find anywhere else. The app makes browsing addictive in the best way.
Too many dropshippers now
What was once a genuine secondhand marketplace is now full of people dropshipping cheap AliExpress items. Defeats the whole purpose. Depop needs to enforce their policies.
Love the explore page
The explore page algorithm is actually good. Consistently shows me items I like based on my style. Better curation than most shopping apps. Visual layout is Instagram-quality.
Inconsistent listing quality
Some sellers put effort into beautiful photos and descriptions. Others post blurry pics with no details. The platform could set higher standards for listings.
Community is the best part
The Depop community is creative and supportive. Sellers share styling tips, buyers give genuine feedback. Its more than a marketplace - its a fashion community.
UK roots show
The app started in the UK and sometimes the features and community feel very UK-centric. US users get a slightly different experience. Getting better though.
