The most beautiful doc app
Craft makes documents look gorgeous by default. Share a Craft doc with a client and they're immediately impressed. The styling, layout, and export options are best in class.
Native app performance is amazing
As a native Apple app, Craft is blazingly fast. Everything is instant - opening docs, searching, switching between spaces. The performance difference vs Notion is dramatic.
Daily notes are well implemented
The daily notes feature creates a new page each day with a clean layout. Over time it becomes a journal and work log. Backlinks to other documents create context naturally.
Not flexible enough for complex workflows
Craft is beautiful for documents and notes but can't handle structured data, databases, or complex project management. If you need more than docs, you'll still need other tools.
Share as web page is brilliant
One click turns any Craft doc into a beautifully formatted web page with a shareable link. No need for a website or blog. I share project updates, proposals, and newsletters this way.
AI assistant is well-done
Craft's AI helps with writing, summarizing, and translating directly within documents. The integration feels natural - highlight text, ask AI to improve it. Not gimmicky.
Subscription is pricey
$5/month for personal or $10/month for pro. For a note/doc app, that adds up especially alongside other subscriptions. The free tier limits are strict.
Replaced Notion for my team docs
Our small team switched from Notion to Craft for documentation. The docs look more professional, load faster, and the sharing experience is superior. No regrets.
Blocks system is intuitive
Everything in Craft is a block that can be rearranged, styled, and linked. Cards within cards create depth. The block system is simpler than Notion's but more intuitive.
Markdown import works well
Imported my Obsidian vault into Craft and most formatting preserved correctly. For people switching from Markdown-based tools, the transition is relatively smooth.
Best for client-facing documents
When I send proposals, reports, or updates to clients, I use Craft. The documents look more professional than Google Docs and the web share feature means no attachments or account requirements.
Missing features I need
No tables (basic ones recently added), no database views, no advanced formatting options. Craft prioritizes beauty over functionality and sometimes I need more substance.
Apple ecosystem integration is top notch
Spotlight search, Share Sheet, Shortcuts, Widgets, Apple Pencil support - Craft uses every Apple technology well. If you're all-in on Apple, no other note app integrates this deeply.
Document organization is intuitive
Spaces for different areas of life/work, folders within spaces, and documents within folders. The hierarchy is clean and easy to navigate. Finding things is never a problem.
Offline support is excellent
Craft works fully offline since it's a native app with local storage. Write on a plane, sync when you land. The offline experience is identical to online. Rare for a modern app.
Export options are comprehensive
PDF, Markdown, Word, TextBundle, Print - Craft exports in many formats and they all look good. The PDF export especially maintains the beautiful formatting.
Needs Android and web versions
Craft is Apple-only which limits its appeal for mixed-platform teams. A web version exists now but it's basic. Until there's feature parity across platforms, adoption will be limited.
Toggle blocks and callouts look great
The styled callout blocks, toggles, and dividers make documents scannable and visually organized. Little design touches that elevate content from a wall of text to a structured document.
Type system for cards is useful
Different card types (note, body, page link) with different styling helps create documents with clear visual hierarchy. Headers feel like headers, notes feel like notes.
Real-time collaboration works smoothly
Editing a Craft doc with colleagues simultaneously works without conflicts or lag. Seeing their cursors and changes in real-time makes collaborative writing effortless.
