Most features of any PM tool
ClickUp literally tries to do everything - tasks, docs, whiteboards, goals, time tracking, chat. And honestly most of it works decently. If you want one tool for everything, this is it.
Feature-rich but buggy
Great features on paper but the execution is inconsistent. I encounter bugs weekly - views not loading, drag and drop glitching, notifications disappearing. It needs more polish and less new features.
Free tier is amazing
Unlike Asana or Monday.com, ClickUp's free tier actually lets you use most features. Unlimited tasks, members, and most views. If you're on a budget, this is the best option by far.
So many features, none work perfectly
Jack of all trades, master of none. The docs are worse than Notion, task management worse than Asana, time tracking worse than Toggl. ClickUp does everything but nothing excellently.
Replaced our entire tool stack
We dropped Asana, Notion, Loom, and Miro for ClickUp. Everything in one place, one subscription, one login. The consolidation alone saved us $200/month and reduced context switching.
Mobile app is way behind desktop
The desktop/web experience is pretty good but the mobile app feels like a completely different (worse) product. Slow, limited features, clunky navigation. Needs serious investment.
Customization is unreal
You can customize literally everything - views, statuses, fields, automations, dashboards. If you have a specific workflow, ClickUp can probably accommodate it. The flip side is it takes time to set up.
Performance issues need addressing
Our workspace with ~50 people is noticeably slow. Loading spaces, switching views, and opening tasks all have noticeable delays. This is my biggest complaint - the speed needs to improve.
Best for the price point
At $7/user/month for the Unlimited plan, ClickUp offers more features than Asana or Monday at $11-16/user. If budget is a consideration, the value proposition is hard to beat.
Whiteboards are a nice surprise
Didn't expect a PM tool to have decent whiteboard functionality. It's no Miro, but for quick brainstorming and diagramming alongside your tasks, it's really convenient.
Updates keep breaking things
Every time there's an update, something changes or breaks. A view I had set up perfectly suddenly looks different. Settings I configured got reset. The constant changes are exhausting.
ClickUp 3.0 was a huge improvement
The 3.0 redesign made the interface much cleaner and more intuitive. Navigation is better, universal search actually works now, and the new home dashboard is useful. Big step forward.
Time tracking is basic but functional
Having built-in time tracking is nice so you don't need another tool. But it's basic compared to dedicated time tracking apps. Good enough for most needs but power users will want more.
Dashboards give great visibility
Custom dashboards let you build widgets showing project status, time tracked, tasks by status, and more. As a manager, having this bird's-eye view is essential and ClickUp does it well.
Documentation is overwhelming
There are so many features that even the help docs are overwhelming. ClickUp University helps but expect to spend significant time learning the platform. Not a pick-up-and-go kind of tool.
Sprint management is solid
We use ClickUp for our engineering sprints. Sprint folders, point estimation, velocity tracking, and burndown charts all work well. Not as mature as Jira but way less painful to use.
Best all-in-one workspace
If you want everything in one place and are willing to invest time learning, ClickUp is the best option. Period. The breadth of features is unmatched. It's gotten more stable over time too.
Integrations are hit or miss
Some integrations work great (Slack, GitHub) while others are barely functional (Google Drive, Figma). The native integrations need more investment to be reliable.
Goals feature keeps teams aligned
Setting company/team goals and linking them to tasks and projects creates a nice top-down alignment. You can see how individual tasks contribute to bigger objectives.
Needs better onboarding
Dropped my team into ClickUp and they were lost. Too many options, too many views, too many settings. We needed a consultant to help set it up properly. First impression is overwhelming.
